Chai Snickerdoodles

Recipe: My Madison Bistro's Chai Snickerdoodles
Total time: 20 minutes
Ease: easy
Unusual ingredients: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, cream of tartar, shortening

These cookies were a total blast to make. I’d recently invested in some very fresh cardamom, fennel, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger – all in preparation for a few chai recipes I’d been saving!

The dough for these cookies is made from a more traditional snickerdoodle recipe. The trick to the chai flavor is rolling them before baking in all of the spices mixed in with some sugar.

I’m eager to make these again, but to try to incorporate the spices in to the batter itself next time. They tasted awesome, but you had to know that there was chai in them to guess the flavor. I’d rather it be more obvious. Still, these were a delicious, and a perfect anytime snack.
